Can I wash a coyote fur hat?
No. Do not machine wash it, dry clean it as if it were cloth, or soak it in detergent. Shake off snow, dry it at room temperature, and take real soil to a fur cleaner.
How do I dry fur that got wet?
Hang or set it at room temperature, away from heaters and sun, until the skin side is dry. Then shake it so the hair stands. A dryer or radiator is how the skin gets ruined.
How should I store it in summer?
Cool, dark, and breathable. A cotton bag beats a plastic sack. Keep cedar in the closet rather than against the fur, and do not leave it in a hot car or attic.
How long does real fur last?
Often many years, if moths, heat, and damp storage are kept away. That is not a warranty and not a fixed number of seasons.
